Is this amazing or disappointing?
Miss USA for 2010 is a muslim girl named Rima Fakih. She is a native of Lebanon and moved to the USA with her family. And she is a Muslim and an Arab. And she is reputed to be the first person of her nationality, ethnicity and religion to be named Miss USA. She was named the first muslim winner of Miss USA.
I found this rather confusing. And contradicting. And demoralising. And.. And.. lots of other emotions.
I am not sure what to make of this. During the competition she wore bakinis and revealing clothing and I am not sure where she stands in terms of her religion. Even more confusing, she was saying her participation was supported by her family. I am not here to judge but just want to share my opinion of such a case. As young girl, she is ambitious of course, very passionate to help the world but I don’t think being a Miss USA and Miss Universe is the gateway to do that. There are so many other ways and channels to make your mark in the world, but not like this!
As for my own personal opinion, it is such a shame, such a beautiful young lady, choosing this route. I know in today's world, there are alot like her where Duniawi is more important and of more significant than the afterlife. What I wanted to say is that she can do so much in the world with other means. Especially in the US, she can be a good example to all muslim young ladies in the world. In her own right, being a Muslim. I would never want my own daughter to flaunt her asset for the whole world to see.
Thats my own perspective, there may be other opinions out there. But I guess, whatever it is, at the end of the day, its all up to her. And her family. Enough said.

On 2nd thought, after posting the above..
Did a bit of browsing about the girl and I just realise she is an American girl afterall. Her way of life doesnt really show she really is a true muslim, so I might just be rambling for nothing. But to quote a Muslim girl as Miss USA all over the news was really misleading and incorrect.
