My new Ipad

Cant help to avoid all these latest gadgets in the market.  I try to be a neutral and didnt really bothered but I failed every time hehehe.

I recently bought the new Ipad.  This after 3 other gadgets that I bought in a span of one year!  First, it was my
Samsung Galaxy Tab, then it was my HTC Smartphone, then my

I always wanted an Ipad but then other things took precedence, until recently.  The new Ipad is supposed to be the best Ipad there is, lets just read the reviews which says all the good things about it. Its quite expensive too, more than B$1k but I still bought it.

So far so good.  Love all the features, not to mention all the new apps that come with it.

There are times when I think about all these gadgets.  Like do I really need them, I dont think so.  Well.. maybe the phone but not the rest but I guess its so normal to have all these in our possessions.  Lets just say I like to be up to date with what happens around me and the Ipad, tab, handphones even laptop just do the tricks ;)

So thats my justifications for owning all these gadgets hehe..

My new bestfriend now :)

First time at Fish & Co Brunei

Another first for us to go to this restaurant, and I guess not our last, although there are still some rooms for improvement.  Like they took our order wrongly.

Yup.. not major issue though, we still enjoyed the meals and they did make up for it.

The restaurant Fish & Co. was opened just recently.  I think it was in May and there were so much raves and reviews about it.  I knew they have a few branches in the nearby countries so it was such a fuss from every one about this restaurant.

And I love seafood!  So its a good time to give them a visit, where the fuss hopefully die down a bit and it wont be too busy with patrons trying the menu.  So we went last night with open expectation so to speak.  I knew theirs are quite pricey (from reviews of people of course) but the portions are humongous.  Thats what I heard, so far so good.

We arrived around 7.30pm and we were greeted with a few waiters and waitresses.  They really did make people feel welcomed :).  Good turnout of people and the place is almost full.  The menu was quite extensive and we were spoilt with choices.  But it didnt take us long to do our choices and when the food arrived, we did have some complaints :)

The meals consisted of the main course, like choices of fishes, mussles, prawns, chickens, beef, etc.  Then they have side orders which consisted of sauteed vegetables, rice, mash potatoes, chips or coleslaw.  We can choose up to 2 side dishes to accompany our main dish.  But when my order came, they got it wrong!  I asked for sauteed vegetables and mash potatoes but they gave me chips and mash potatoes.  I was like what???  They didnt even get that right.  I informed the waiter, which was a different person, not the one who took our order (maybe too many of them around??) and told him I didnt ask for chips but sauteed vegetables.  He apologised and offered to give me the sauteed vegetables for free.  Wow... thats a good deal and I was impressed that they would do that.  I  expected an array of vegetables but when it came, there was only carrots! Hahaha.. they should have told us its sauteed carrots, not sauteed vegetables.  Because people would expect it would be a few different kind of vegetables, like what they have at Charcoal and Grills at Batu Satu, yumm..

Alright, never mind, we let that go as we were not here to make a fuss but to enjoy the food, which was really great.  They also ALMOST got hubby's order wrong, barely.  Almost huhu.

But I must say, my meal was fantastic.  I enjoyed the food.  Its true that the portions were big.  Our daughter's fish and chips were huge.  Hubby was satisfied with his meals too.  And its true also the food were a bit pricey.  But we did enjoy ourselves last night.  We might be back :)

We spent a total of B$69.75 for the meals last night.

Hari Raya 2012

We celebrated Eid today.  As usual our day started with the Hari Raya prayer at our local masjid.  Its such a happy time to be able to join the rest of the muslim and perform this prayer.  Alhamdulilah.  We woke up early and looking forward to today.  I felt so blessed and and peaceful to hear the Takbir.

After prayer we went to visit my parents with the rest of the family.  We had a big meal today, good spread of food all prepared by mom.  We took some pictures also which is the norm for us, every year and this was the fun part where everyone enjoyed themselves and had some lovely pictures of everyone.

Then we went on to Belait to visit my inlaws.  And had another meal.  Which is always the case especially on the first day where food is on abundance.  No complaint from me though because I just love food so much, hehehe.

What a blissful day today.

Chocolate Cornflake

Its two days before Raya.  I guess everyone is busy doing all the preparations.  We usually didnt overdo everything.  Nothing big like baking numerous cakes or biscuits.  No new furnitures, no new curtains or anything for that matter.  Its always a simple celebrations for us.  Every year I bought a few cakes from friends or colleagues and thats it.

However, this year our daughter decided to make one delicacy for the guests who come to our home.  She told me its very simple to make and she doesnt even has to bake them.  So we bought all the ingredients the other day and she made them today.  Its look very yummy though and hubby and I couldnt wait to taste them.  So its going to be after Iftar then since all of us are fasting!

Just to share here is the recipe.

Ingredients
50g of butter
4 tbs golden scrup
100g dark chocolate (she changed this to milk chocolate since she doesnt like dark chocolate..)
75g corn flakes

Method
Gently melt the butter, syrup and chocolate in a small heavy pan.
Stir in the cornflakes
Place large spoon of the mixture on each serving cup
Leave to set in the refrigerator

And thats it.

For this amount of ingredient, my daughter can get maybe around 15 cups.  She has to do a few more rounds of the whole process in order to get more cups.

The ingredients

The mixture of butter, golden syrup and chocolate

Mixture with corn flakes

The mixture transferred to the mini cups

First time at Bayswater Restaurant.

Ever since we were back from our holiday in London, my daughter and I were kind of obsessed with anything about the place :)  We had a wonderful holiday, its a fun place to be.  We liked the buildings, the surroundings and even the people.  We enjoyed the holiday tremendously.

So no wonder when this restaurant was opened recently, we decided we must give it a try.  It took a few months though, lol.  I think they opened sometimes in April according to this news.  And last night we headed there excited to try it and had our Iftar.  No idea what the menu was like at first.  As far as I knew from the newspaper the restaurant resembled the underground tubes in London (even more exciting huhu).  The first thing that struck our eyes were the Tube symbols and the unique seatings. Everything about the tubes in London was there.  Furthermore, we stayed in Bayswater for a few days during the holiday so its kind of bring back all the memories!

Its true, everything is all about London, specifically the tubes of course.  Even the menu was related to all the hot spots and places of interest  in London.  Not that comprehensive but it was okay.  And the food were not that bad actually.  The host/owner of the restaurant was there graciously helped us with any question that we have and took our order.  They even had an Ipad with all the pictures of the meals, cool..

They have Iftar promotion at the mo where eat all you can for B$15.99 excluding drinks. So if you are interested to try it out, you still have a few more days!  Last night, it was a full house and we got a spot/table called Piccadilly Circus!

Fun fun fun...

The exterior of the restaurant - the tube symbol attracted us from afar!

The menu - not that alot but okay

The reception area - thats the host busy taking the patrons orders.  Oh btw, you had to go to this front area to make orders.  They dont come to your table.

Its been 40 days

Last night we went to my cousin's house and had iftar over there.  Its a somber ocassion since its also the 40th day of the death of my niece who passed away in June.  Again I cant help to realise of fast the time flies.  Although I guess everyone has accepted the fact that she is no longer around.

You are gone but will never forgotten especially to those who were close to you.  Al-Fatihah.

First Female Muslim Bruneian at the Olympics

I should have blogged about this young lady earlier but amidst all my chaos and business, it seemed slip away from my memory.  The tirade and excitement has long gone, well, a few days exactly when she did the country proud by running at the London Olympic.  She sure did her best when she broke the national record.

I am not a sport fan, I dont watch sport channel but for this one, I made a little tiny bit of exception.  Although I didnt watch her run but I read she did really well, even after a bout of flu and cough.  So well done Maziah!

I just wish the country will recognise her talent, not only for this time around but from now onwards.  Polish her, keep her properly trained, so she can improve her time gradually since she already did so well.  She is still so young, just a year older than my daughter, she has the whole future infront of her.  And she has the potential.  So people, please take this girl seriously.
