TechXpo 2011

Last night hubby and I went to see the Brunei TechXpo 2011 at the ICC after Magrib prayer.  I think this was the 2nd expo  and since we didnt go on the first one, we thought of spending a few hours visiting at this one.  Reached ICC at around 7pm and it was not so hard to look for parking spaces and found one although there were lots of cars already.  We are not really looking for anything in particular, well, I was hoping to bump into a vendor selling fish crackers actually!  Hahaha... I told hubby we never know there could be someone selling something so out of topic.  But we didnt find it, hahaha.

So we just wandered around aimlessly.  The only reason why we like to go to this type of expo is usually looking for new things in the market, which sometimes can be very interesting.

Yup there were some interesting new products so lets the pictures do the talking.

At the main entrance to the exhibition hall.

Expos in Brunei could be so popular.

Japan also took part.

E-government exhibition area

Tea demonstration from Taiwan

People taking pictures with the Angry Bird Mascots.  I was just wondering what are so special about these birds? lol
Hubby looking at the solar machine which could be connected to the printer so dont have to use electricity.  This product is new!

Could this be our next holiday destination? Hehe

Hubby is interested about this product.  Cant remember what it calls but it was a machine that could be install in our cars and the cars could be detected anywhere on the road.  Very useful to keep track on people, or if the car is stolen or used by someone, etc

This is so cute!
Figurines made up of special rolls of paper

The demo on how to create the figures.

It cost B$2 to learn!
There was online Angry Birds games competitions going on.

I think this is DJ Ayu of KFM in her box, lol, at DST Pavilion

I am more interested in THIS kind of product.

Look, nice pin!

Well.. we didnt go here.
So many booths to look at.

Latest gadget at home - Samsung Galaxy SII

We are now officially a big fan of the brand Samsung!!!

As proven by our latest purchase of such brand, a new gadget just entered our house. Its Samsung Galaxy SII!!! Thats after our new Samsung Flatscreen HD TV and my Samsung Galaxy tab.

So far so good, we are impressed on what this smartphone can do, of course there are so many  reviews which says how good these phones are.  And the smartphone is so cute and delicate, so cheek and so smooth, with lots of functionalities.  Love it... although its not mine, never mind. Do you know currently this smartphone enjoys the title as the most desired smartphone in the world? So don’t expect Apple Iphone 4 to be the number one. They aren't!

Hubby got the white coloured one from Dee Jay a few days ago... he is a happy camper so far. And I am very supportive of Samsung since I got my own Samsung Galaxy tablet at the moment and it works wonders for me.

A little trivia.... Samsung comes from Korean. Translated literally, it means Three (Sam), Stars (Sung). Both happen to be words based on Chinese, and together is used to symbolize the universe according to Chinese mythology.  There... it should be 5 stars I think!

The mobile shop where we bought the smartphone

Nice

Hubby admired his new white Samsung Galaxy SII with its striking red cover

Horrible jam this morning - Burst pipe in Jangsak

I was so late to work today.   I heard about the burst pipe yesterday on the radio and then on FB last night but I didnt know the magnitude of it.  I didnt realise it was very bad when I read the news this morning.  I was caught in a horrible traffic jam for almost one hour sending my daughter to school.  There was already a long queue at Jalan Sengkurong heading to the traffic light.  And it took 15 minutes to enter the junction to Jangsak.  And people just cut the queue as if they were the only one in a hurry, very typical Bruneian behaviour!

Jangsak road now became three lanes instead of two, the cars drove by the shoulders of the roads, how irresponsible are thee drivers? Thats what Brunei drivers are.

The road was diverted to the other side of the lanes since there was a big gapping hole in the middle of the road.

Workers working hard to rectify the situation.  See that big gapping hole.  I wonder how long it will take to repair the pipe and the road.

Dinner at Grazie Mauri

We always love Italian food.  Especially hubby and our daughter who are the hardcore fans of pasta and sphagetti hehe.  So a few days ago I told hubby about this famous Italian restaurant branch in Brunei, Grazie Mauri is doing a 50% discount promotion for all their menu until end of the month.  But with a twist, you have got to buy their drinks to be eligible for the discount.  Thats still a good deal, afterall italian food are quite expensive in Brunei so off we go!  Hubby treated us to dinner at Grazie Mauri last night and it was delicious!  And value for money as well.

Love our outing last night.  The food were awesome.  I like the ambience of the restaurant.  Another unique thing about this place is, the chef of the restaurant is always on hand, he usually comes around and greets all the patrons.  He did that last night too and he did the same at their other restaurants in Jalan Muara as well.  Good gesture to get to know the people and asking them whether they like what they eat and see.  It was our first time here and I am sure we gonna be back.  Thank you hubby!

My first time at Bridex Hall Jerudong..

For a wedding!

The place has been opened to public for a while now, mostly for exhibitions, tournaments and for the Army Military expos, etc and we never set foot here.  But then yesterday, we were invited to my cousin's daughter wedding at the hall, and it was the first time we were at the vacinity!  Its quite a vast area, parking? no problem!  The hall was rather big but hubby said, Manggis Mall Hall and Dewan Chancellor UBD are much bigger and nicer!

Haha.. looks like most weddings are now held at these grand halls, nobody invites people for weddings at home anymore, especially for those who stay in Bandar.  I think people prefer it too, since its more organised since guests are in one big place, and its not hot since its fully aircon.

Anyway, congrats to the newly wed - Ogy and Haffiz.  May your marriage lasts forever.  I seldom see this neice of mine, I used to see her when she was so small and look at her now!  Grows up to be a pretty girl.  And good luck for your December race in Red Bull!
