Nursyasya Kain Rack

Congratulations to my niece and her hubby for the soft opening of their Nursyasya Kain Rack at Airport Mall.  In conjuction with the opening, there was a thanksgiving ceremony and prayers at the venue last night.  The Airport Mall was really big, but still mostly empty.  Only a few shops were occupied.  Since its not fully opened yet and not many customers came,  we kind of got the whole place to our selves.  Their shop was at the 2nd floor and dinner were served on the ground floor, very nice.
After the ceremony we went up and looked at their shop, which was really nice, brightly lit and clean.  A good start for a very good prospect.  So all the best to them and hope the business flourishes.  And now let the pictures do all the talking...

Lunch at Millennium Restaurant

We haven’t been to Millennium in quite a while and we went there without plan for a quick lunch. But it didn’t turn out to be quick when we stayed for over an hour for a buffet lol. I am not very much into buffet these days, partly because there are just too many food to eat, unless its something random like the Philippines food promotion last time. I find it too much a waste, to eat only about 50-60% of the dishes served. And partly because, buffet could be so expensive and if you only eat a little, then its so not worth it.

At the Millennium, the buffet cost B$10.80 per person for lunch which was quite reasonable, and we were rightfully hungry at the same time, so we ended up having lunch there. Not bad for 10 bucks, the food was quite good and the place was packed by tourists. Luckily we arrived a few minutes earlier otherwise we had to join the long queue to get to the food.  But thumbs up, its really nice array of dishes.

Brunei Waterfront

The waterfront was officially opened a few months ago in May and only now hubby and I managed to go and saw for ourselves whats the place looked like. The report on the opening of this splendid place is here.   It was not a new place though, the waterfront was revamped to the best of its glory and it really looked awesome, used to be an old custom and exercise offices.  The area was not that big but it quite ok for a small place like Brunei. We went late in the afternoon to avoid the blazing sun and reached the area at around 5.30pm. The place was nicely breezed and the sun was already very low. There were a few people over there and enjoying the scenery. I must say the place looked rather nice and the backdrop of Kampong Air (water village) took my breath away. We strolled around the area for quite a bit and looked around what facilities were available.

This place was supposed to boost Brunei tourism industry, a new addition to Bandar Seri Begawan urban landscape. I hope it will, because from what I can see, there were only a few people/families wandering around. There were not much to see except it provides a good strolling ground and view of Kampong Air. There were 2 small cafes and a monument with very few chairs for people to sit on. I wish to see more lively activities conducted here, may be nightly, so this place will come alive. Not only occasionally. Its about time to add more sparkles to this place.

After the waterfront, hubby suggested we should walk to the Padang SOAS. This month being the birth month of HM the Sultan, the whole BSB is buzzing with activities (I wonder why none was held at the waterfront?). There were more people there at the Padang, since HM was there in the morning for the Bersama Rakyat function, the place was still abuzz. We strolled aimlessly until the place got dark and hubby did some lovely shots of SOAS Masjid.

We enjoyed the walk. Hubby even told me this must be our first time strolling around the town on foot which was rather nice. I think I agreed with him since I couldn’t remember when was our last time walking in Bandar, lol. What a shame our daughter couldn’t make it to the trip since she was busy with school stuff and home work!

The lovely monuments.

Hubby being playful and asked me to take our shadows in a picture, lol

Hubby checking out the gate, is it made of gold or what? hahaha... nahh..

Good initiative for going green.

This picture was taken from an elevated area of the waterfront

This was something not nice about Bruneian.  There were a few gabbage bins around and why did people just leave these empty cans around?  Peopld did something for a reason right?  Was there a reason for this? Apart from being lazy?  If there was no legitimate reason for this, I consider these people were just plain stupid and ungrateful, as simple as that.  And they deserve to live IN THE JUNGLE!

A few tents erected at the waterfront, but most were empty.  Maybe there was functions held before.

Nice and relaxing with breezy wind.

Public toilet for men.  I didnt see the female ones though.

Took this picture while we walked to Padang SOAS.

Very deserted.

This was the picture of my office building, on the 12th floor where I took some pictures of Bandar Seri Begawan before.
