Time for car Inspection!

Since its now towards the end of the year, we need to focus on other important chores that needed to be taken care of. Renewal of insurances and road taxes for all our vehicles! It was usually a dreaded process, especially for two of our cars which are more than 7 years of age, so we need to inspect the cars with the LTD to check the road worthiness before we could get the road tax. It shouldn’t be so dreading but sometimes, the process can be slow with long waiting time. Last year it took us 3 hours to get everything done! There were a few steps that we need to go through to get a road tax and not to mention to join the queue to get to each one.

Off we went last weekend to do the inspection for our old but reliable small car. Reached LTD at around 7am after sending our daughter to school and once we reached the location, we already saw a few cars in line, although the office opened at around 8am. Usually people try to be early to beat the queue so they don’t have to queue for too long. By the time we joined the queue, there were already a number of cars behind us. But the time really flew by when we saw people already queuing up at the inspection counter to get their bluecards checked and paid the $5 inspection fee. We got there also and done within 15 minutes and it was not even 8am yet. So our hearts soared to see this and hoping this process take shorter than it usually was.

Yes I was impressed. The LTD took the initiative to start early and get the queuing cars inspected in less time. The inspection process was really fast! I think they skipped some checks, don’t know why. Our car inspected within half and hour and off we went inside for the next step -  to get the road tax.

They have a different room now to register the car details. Oh.. this was before we actually go and pay for our road tax, we need to go to a different counters manned by disabled people (usually ladies who had hearing problems) to register then only we go to the main area to get our road tax. The registration was used to be a the lobby area of LTD, where it was a public and open space and very busy and chaotic. They have relocated the counters to a different room to cater for this. I think it was much more organised and quieter than before.

And I didn’t feel like I had to rush to get it done because before there were people who hang about behind me waiting to be served, there were not even chairs available for people to sit on! Now there were chairs so its good. And there were not so many people there and we got our road tax within one hour. So well done LTD. A huge improvements.

Sign board on opening hours

Before the car was inspected, the drivers need to queue here to register and pay B$5.00

People start queuing up to get it done.

This is the inspection area before it opened.

Our car on queue for the inspection.

Inspection done then we moved on to this area to register the car onto the system.  The counters were manned by mute but very efficient and beautiful ladies.

Once registration done, next step to go to this area where the road tax process is done.
