One of the traditions of Ramadhan and Hari Raya in Brunei is the visit to the cemetary, to pay respect and recite the Doa for our departed loved ones. Apart from doing the doa, we also clean the cemetery and pour the perfumed water on to the graves. Just want to remind ourselves that one day we would end up here too. Its a good reminder for us the mortal and to show that we also remember and never forget our loved one who had passed on.
We went to the Kuala Belait cemetery to visit my MIL grave who passed away a few years ago, we also went to visit other relatives of hubby, recited Al-Fatihah and cleaned their resting place a little bit. The cemetery was a busy place on the first day of Raya, it seemed it was a tradition in KB that people went here on the first day. I dont know how it was in Bandar, but in KB the cemetery was packed with people.
Me and Ayang on our way to MIL grave. Those small stool were provided at the cemetery for the visitors to sit while praying and reciting the Koran. You just have to go and take them yourselves at the entrance.
