Fruit Season is here!

This is one of my favourite time of the year.  The fruit season where the local fruits are in full bloom and abundance.  This time around there are more fruits sold more than ever!  So many temporary fruit stalls are being built selling all these fruits, its everywhere!  We could see them springing up along the roads, at people's houses, around shopping complexes and shops and also at the number of tamus around Bandar.  Some are just selling from their cars or vans hehehe.

As always, I am excited.  I am a local fruit lover.  I love eating them especially the Durians, Manggis, Tebadak and the oh so delicious Tarap.

I am lucky there lots of them this year :)  So hubby and I have been buying all these fruits almost every day and the most convenient place for us to shop is at Hua Ho Tanjung Bunut parking spaces where the area is now utilised by the local sellers selling these products.  Its very near to our home and we pass this place everyday on our way to and from work.  So its rather easy.

The Durians are cheap and my favourite is durian kuning.  They are awesome and I never get tired of eating them.  Hubby loves it too but not our daughter. She prefers the other type, the durian Putih.  So we always buy both types.  I have been having lots of durian lately.  Our bins are always full of the durian skins I wonder what the rubbish bin trucks peoplethought about it lol.  I dont mind peeling the skin off too, I just cant wait to get to the edible fruit inside!  The prices are not too bad too.  We could get a bundle of 3-4 durians for $10.  And we got lucky once when one of the sellers sold two bundles for $15.  Good bargain.

Our other favourite is buah manggis, especially those juicy and sweet ones.  But this is a bit tricky to get good ones since we dont know how it is inside (sometimes they are sour and not so nice), so it is always a gamble.  Luckily they are quite cheap, around $3-$4 per kilo.

And another favourite is Buah Tarap.  Hubby loves it!  They are infact very delicious, unique and juicy.  They are really really good.  I dont think we could find this fruit anywhere else in the world.  So unique to Borneo I think.  When it ripes, its really sweet, and the skin is soft and can easily be peeled to reveal the white juicy torn like fruit inside.  We like to eat them right away or put them in a fridge for an hour or so, and taste even better when its cold.  Yumm...

Sometimes we add a twist to it, by frying them.  And it taste even better, lol...  Trust me you will never get tired of this fruit.  Its proven! And I just found out that buah tarap has more health benefits than other fruits, more of that here.

I am sure its gonna be another few weeks yet for these fruits to be around so I still have time to buy more, lol...

People are busy buying and selling durian, each cost around $2-$4 which is quite cheap

There are alot of Durian, some even use the Hua Ho trolly to move them from their van to their selling spot
