New Mattress

We wanted to buy a new mattress for a while.  Its about time, our mattress is 10 years old and sagging.  So many types out there and its not easy to look for the one we liked.  But for obvious reason, everyone knows, to get a good night sleep, mattress matters.

We also know good mattress could be so expensive these days.  Although it doesnt necessary mean an expensive mattress is better than another.  So we need to get that balance.   What we have in mind is this, a good mattress should be firm enough to provide support to our overall body, our back, neck and legs while offering some cushion and recoil for comfort.  Its all depends on the individual and lifestyle I think.

Of course, to buy a mattress could be a personal thing.  You would have to sit or lay on it to find that particular one.  And a mattress is usually a long term and quite a pricey investment, so it must be chosen with great care for both a comfort and health reasons.

And we found what we are looking for, its not the most expensive but it sure is comfortable!

Thanksgiving ceremony at home

Whilst the Chinese community celebrated their year of the dragon, and amid the fireworks and firecrackers loudly banging in our ears, we organised a small thanksgiving ceremony at home with my family.  We wanted to do it for a few months already, and syukur Alhamdulilah, we managed to invite my parents, and my brothers with their family to join us to thank Allah for all the blessings He has given us for the past year.

Its a small affair, but there was sure lots of food!  Not so many pictures we sure kind of busy.

The story of my daughter :)

My daughter behaviour for the past few days prompt me to write this post. She is such a sweet girl. But she is having a bad few days, being so moody and sulky. She is under a lot of stress with school, she lost her book and her calculator to name a few. She was being sensitive and cry in the spur of the moment.

Sometimes its not easy to handle a teenager. I have to learn a lot to go with the flow. Be a patient mom, lol. Although this phase is far and between but sometimes I feel sorry for her that she has to handle all these emotions. I encourage her to talk to me but sometimes she just stare blankly at me. Thats when I have to leave her alone.

wrote  about this before so I am hoping I am doing the right thing.

But I will always love her. She is the most charming daughter in the whole wide world. She is funny and have a nice sense of humour. I love it when we talk and she is being playful and fun.

But Ayang.. you will always be my sweet little girl, no matter how grown up you are :)

My advise to those having a teenaged daughter. Just go with the flow.

What our daughter wants to do.

Its that year again.

Its my daughter most important year. She will take her A Level exam this year. This year is to determine what the future holds for her. What she wants to do as a career. Where all her learning and her success in her studying will take her.  And she will be a grown up very soon.  Huhu.. I feel so old..

Anyway, we have lots of discussions about this. And she already chosen on what to do as a career (sort of). She is very passionate about the environment and the global warming. She supports all the green initiatives. She loves trees and animals. She loves to recycle. She doesn’t like to waste energy and paper. She never switch on her aircon at day time, no matter how hot the weather is. She insists to switch off all the electronic appliances when we don’t use them. And a lot more!

So thats what she wants to advocate. She wants to be an environmentalist. Specialises in environment management or geologist. Or anything along that line. I think thats a good career, we still need alot of people who specialises in that area. And we support her 100%.

I notice that she is getting serious about her study and that big exam. She always hold her books or her revision papers around the house.  She reads even in the car.  She has taken last AS November 2011 exam and plan to take the June exam, then November 2012 exam. I was like, wow.. thats alot of exams but she said she wants to get the best result!

Yesterday she started going for tuition classed at Kiulap.  She said she wanted to polish her study and get the best revision. I don’t remember I had the same passion in studying as her when I was younger lol.

But I am hoping all these hardwork and sacrifices will bear fruits later. She gonna have the best result in her A level exam, and I pray to Allah that she will get through with flying colours, Insya Allah.

Our 2nd trip to Kimchi

Made a second visit to Kimchi last night with my youngest brother and his wife.  Its his first time there and we had so much fun with them being him so playful and fun.  We went there last December and I kind of addicted to the food.  I know Korean food are considered very healthy and very nice, I love them.

We ordered a different set of food from last time, some beef, chicken and squid but I better dont show them since I feel its just a repetition. We also ordered some nice soup with rice and my soup was really nice.

Yummy...

At our table last night

The very nice side dishes

Hubby's soup, we ordered a bit different from last time. Not a fan of this though!

My soup - so heavenly

The same lady who did the bbq for us

My new handphone

I've been contemplating to buy a new phone for a long time.  I cant believe I havent bought any new phone since 2005!  When everybody else was busy with their new and latest smartphones, I still carry on using my Motorola lol.  My emm... (cough) philosophy is, when the phone still works why do we need to buy or change to a new one?  Then the phone broke down and didnt work very well, so I guess its time for me to get a new one.  Its about time, 6 years!

Next, I thought about what phone to get.  There are so many in the market!  A few came into mind, I forego, Iphone and Samsung S2 since both these phones used by hubby and our daughter.  And I also have my Samsung Galaxy.

My brother recommended Nokia N9.  But hubby told me its not really that good.  Then HTC came into mind.  But which one?  The most favourable were HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE.  I decided to go and buy HTC Sensation XL, until hubby intercepted.  He told me HTC Sensation XE is a bit advanced and a better choice.  Good  review so far so yay.......

So thats the choice then.  Hubby bought it for me, and he said its for my birthday.  Huhu... thank you hubby!  We bought the phone at Shopping.com with a good price :)

My new phone!

Uneventful

Went to JPMC in the weekend.  I was a bit worried about my daughter's health.  She still suffers from cold and cough, she got it while we were still on holiday and she hasnt recovered.  My poor baby!

So we decided to go to JPMC and see what they had to say about it.  Went there at the Outpatient Dept at around 5.30pm and got advised and opinion from the doctor, and some meds to sort them out.  Alhamdulilah, her cold and cough are getting better.

Durian time

Its Durian time in Brunei at the moment.  They are everywhere.  And durian is my favourite local fruit and I just cant resist when I see them.  Its the best fruit in the world, and dont make me start on the taste!  So heavenly... and I never get tired of them no matter how many I consume.

So happy to see them now that I could buy them as many as I want!  I bought some recently and they were so good that I would take hubby to buy some again this weekend.  Its just that it cost so much at the moment, the one we bought below cost B$25 which consist of about 5-6 small fruits.  And the only downside was it can be hard to open them due to the hard skin.  So what we always do is to open them all (to save time and energy since we open them once only) and keep them in the freeze to be consumed later.  Yummy.........

Hello 2012

A new year again.  A new beginning I hope for more good things in life.  2011 has been a wonderful year, it treated us well.  We got so many good news as well as some not as good, nevertheless I am happy to say good bye to 2011 and welcome 2012 with open arms.  I've got my dream job to work in Bandar in 2011, my daughter graduated with flying colours in her O level exam and accepted to continue her studies for her A level.  We had a big celebration for our dad 70th birthday and the latest one we just came back from our holiday to London and France.

On the not so good news in 2011, I lost a good childhood friend at the beginning of the year, then we lost our uncle Allahyarham Hj Madani. Many prominent faces faced their death last year too, like Steve Jobs, Osama Bin Ladin, Gaddafi and King Jung Il.  Brunei also had lost many lives in road accidents like the accidents in KK Sabah.

Anyhow, life has to continue.  And I am hoping and praying we will all be blessed with lots of happiness and health in this new year.  May Allah the Al-Mighty keeping on pouring his Love, Rahmah and Barakah to each and everyone of us, Amin.

And we had a small family gathering last night and had a small bbq, not as lively since some of us couldnt make it but it was always fun as usual and full :)
