First time at Thann Sancuary & Spa

Another first!

Sometimes I feel I just need to relax and have some "me" time.  And one of the things I like to do is to try new spas in town, just to get the feel of it and at the same time, enjoy some downtime.

And this time, I try this top notch spa at Kiulap.  I came to know about this spa from a friend and came across their website which was really awesome.  Very professional looking I must say.

So last weekend I went there and booked one of the spa packages called "New Beginning".  By the way, there are so many spa to choose from and different type of beauty treatments but I felt I wanted to try a few treatments in one go so I choose this package which consisted of 1 hr massage, 1 hr facial and a reflexology.

And it was really good.  The ladies over there were very friendly, helpful and tentative.  They all went all out to make their customers feel welcome which was really great.

But.. I must say, 1 hr massage was just not enough for me, nothing wrong with the massager though, its just that my body was very tired and it craved more hours of pampering hehehe.

This is what I like about the spa:

  • They offer hot tea and hot towel before the massage.
  • They check which aromatic oil to choose for the massage.
  • They have form to fill in with the customer's details and a diagram to show which part of the body the customers want to massage or which part the customers dont want want to be massaged.
  • They ask if the pressure is hard enough or less

And the place was really cozy and comfortable.

The only thing that I wanted to point out was the price was a bit high but with all those amenities and treatments, you almost forgot how much it cost.  I might be back though.

Adam & Hawa

Ok, this is so not me...

The above post title is the name of a drama series currently aired at Astro Mustika HD.  I first heard about it on the radio when they did some sort of promotion of it and out of curiousity watched one episode maybe two weeks ago and I am hooked!

I am surprised with  myself.  I dont usually watch Malay drama.  I never did until this one.  I dont know why I am hooked.  But I must say I like the heroin, I mean the actress.  She is so natural and she knows how to act.  And the actor is someone famous too.  I've heard this drama is popular in Malaysia and its an adaptation from a book/novel with the same title.

And its all about drama, lots of tears, lots of anger, confusion, sadness and stressful situation, although I think it has a good balance of humour and laughter too.   So its very entertaining.  I havent felt this way about a tv show in a long time. It stirs my heart, my feminie side of things and I love it.  I am like drifting in my own world for a while while watching the show.  All the drama keeps me on my toes.

It currently showing at 10pm from Monday to Thursday so I do have something to look forward to every weekdays.

Looks like I am gonna be a big fan :)

Brunei's Royal Wedding

Another joyous occasion for Brunei today when we witnessed another royal wedding.  The last wedding was in 2007 between HM The Sultan's fourth daughter Princess Hjh Majeedah.  So we welcomed and looked forward to watch such event again.

The wedding is between HR Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah and Pg Anak Hj Ruzaini which took place today at the Istana.  The couple looked really great and they do compliment each other.

I just love wedding!  Such a fairy tale and I love to see the happy faces, the colourful attires and the glorious settings.  And this even more so since these are the royals and the palaces.  Even for common people, weddings are usually very grand affair.

I guess everyone is in a joyous mood in Brunei today.  The whole ceremonies have taken 2 weeks until the Istiadat Bersanding today.  It began about 2 weeks ago when the Menghantar Tanda and Bertunang is held, then followed by the Berbedak Ceremony, Solemnisation ceremony and the highlight of today's Istiadat Bersanding and at the same time, there are nightly vigils held at the Istana to celebrate the wedding.   So alot is going on.

Here is the official website of the wedding to know more about it.

I also found some lovely pictures taken from HR Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah FB :)

So congratulation to the Royal Couple.  May Allah bless your marriage always, Amin.

Teh C Special

I dont usually blog about drinks but today I feel I wanted to mention about this favourite drink of mine.  Its just a simple drink and could be found in small and kampong style restaurants, cafes or stalls.

Its called Teh C Special.  I like this drink so much and I dont mind taking them as often as I can when we dine in any restaurant.  It made up of normal and ordinary tea with evaporated milk, ice cubes and palm sugar.  Yummy...

Usually after each drink, I always wonder how to make this drink.  The ingredients are easy enough but when I think about the palm sugar. or Gulanau in our native language, I wonder how they dilute it since the sugar is usually in a hard form.

Until I found about this syrup!  My cousin introduced it to me when we went to visit her few weeks ago and she gave a bottle of this syrup.

Wow... so grateful that now I can make this drink at home. I dont need to wait to go to restaurant to drink it, I can make it any time I want huhu.

The only thing is that, she bought it in Limbang and not in Brunei.  And I havent seen it in any shops or supermarkets here so I wonder if they are sold here.  Anyone know which shop?  I dont want to be run out of this syrup hehehe.

Another thing I just found out is that palm sugar is slightly better to drink then normal sugar (cane sugar). Thus, if a person consumes a tablespoon of palm sugar and a tablespoon of white cane sugar, the cane sugar will raise the person's blood glucose levels more, whereas the palm sugar will raise the glucose levels to only about 37 per cent of the cane sugar level.

So... its good eh!!
